PerfecTouch Keyboard
The
PerfecTouch keyboard is a choice for people wanting to avoid or relieve
painful Repetitive Strain Injuries (RSI), for people who spend more than 2 hours a day at
the keyboard, or for smart people that just want to be comfortable every time they type! Description:
The Perfect Touch fully
adjustable split style keyboard offers more comfortable hand positions than traditional
keyboards, and is easier to adapt to than other keyboards with fixed angles. Make long hours at your computer more comfortable with the PerfecTouch.
This keyboard has the lightest touch of any keyboard that ADA WorkLink
sells.
While many fixed-angle keyboards have been introduced to the mass market, they
have limitations in comfort since their design forces users to keep their hands in one
position. Because these fixed-angled boards can't be adjusted, they limit posture and
comfort.* (see test results below).
User Friendly Features:
The PerfecTouch can be adjusted to match the natural angle of your hands and arms. Some
users have strategically placed bean bags under each split section to provide radical
forward or backward tilts and configurations. In addition:
- The keyboard can be used in the traditional manner, with both sides connected and the
mouse placed in the middle.
- The keyboard can be angled and adjusted in small increments to allow user-friendly
adaptation periods.
- The keyboard can be separated by as much as 14 inches, allowing you to fully customize
your workspace.

Test results:
* Results of a laboratory experiment published in the journal
"ERGONOMICS", 1995, Vol. 38, No. 9, 1728-1744, confirm that the adjustable split
keyboard design, once accepted by the user, improves postural comfort and general comfort,
and reduces fatigue. Using 26 typists as subjects, researchers tested the split adjustable
keyboard vs. the standard keyboard and compared the results to those of an earlier study
on a split keyboard with a fixed angle between its halves. Findings: (1) The period of
familiarization is much longer for a split keyboard with a fixed angle; (2) The design of
a split adjustable keyboard has much better prospects of being accepted because it allows
a change in the angle from 0 to 30 degrees, so the user's posture can be adapted on a
step-by-step basis; (3) Users in work situations are not likely to accept fixed-angle
split keyboards because output is substantially reduced during the long period of
familiarization, accompanied by a substantial increase in errors.
